Q: Do I have to sign up somewhere to use Link Around?
A: No not at all. It's completely free and anonymous.
Q: How much information is Link Around getting from me?
A: Only the url of the website you are accessing. If Link Around is disabled, no information whatsoever will be transmitted.
Q: Seriously, are you not logging my IP, browser information or other data?
A: No! Only the url of the website you are accessing.
Q: What about my online bank, webmail and other private information?
A: Link Around will only operate on normal websites. Not secured websites or other non-http connections.
Q: Let's say I have a friend that sometimes visits seriously suspect websites. Should he worry about anything?
A: The only information that will be transmitted are the url of the website your friend are visiting. No personal information or any other information that could identify your friend will be transmitted. In fact, it would be impossible to know who visited which sites. Anyway, it's always possible to deactivate Link Around with a single click of a mouse button.
Q: What about a Firefox version?
A: Will be there someday.
Q: 80% of the Internet is Porn. How do I know that 80% of the links from Link Around will not be Porn?
A: First of all there is a Safe Search filter that is enabled by default. Secondly, Link Around will base it's results on the last couple of links you have visited. So if you are in news mode and just visited two news sites, then there will be a good chance that Link Around will suggest you other relevant news links. Similar, if you are in Porn mode, well... you guess the rest ;)
Q: What's with the "Links to analyze" option in the settings menu?
A: Fewer links: New links will appear more often, but results will less likely match your interests.
More links: Results will more likely match your interests, but new links will appear less often.
Q: How is Link Around different from StumbleUpon?
A: It's two very different things. StumbleUpon is not anonymous and requires you to signup before using the product. It's based on users rating of websites and their predefined personal interests and hobbies.
Link Around is completely anonymous and does not require you to sign up. Link Around is not based on users rating of websites, and results are not based on personal interests or hobbies.
